The book explores the remarkable development of Taiwanese horror cinema in the twenty-first century and examines how ghosts, spirits and supernatural narratives have become a privileged space for addressing historical trauma, local beliefs, identity, queer experience and the transformations of contemporary screen culture. The launch will bring together scholars and specialists of Taiwanese cinema for a conversation around the book, followed by a special screening and discussion with artist Zhang Xu Zhan.
